Outbreak of an infantile diarrhea due to pathogenic E.coli.

Abstract
Clinical and bacteriological observations of an outbreak of infantile diarrhea in an institute for sick orphans in Seoul, were done from June to August 1960. The results obtained are as follows: (1) The in patients with diarrhea were 47 of 93. (2) Most of the diarrheal patients were infants of less top two years of age. (3) Stool cultures were carried out on all of the in-patients and 47 str_#ns of enteropathogenic organisms_ were -isolated from 41 of the 93 in patients. The most prevalent organisms were of pathogenic E, soli 32 pti$ins. Typing, of : E. soli revealed 0111 in the 23 strains outnumbered the rest of the various.types of 1. coll. (4) Twenty patients had diarrhea among the 31 patients whose stool cultures were positive for pathogenic E.coli.
